Well-Being at Work

The pressures of the modern world are leading to a well-being crisis with poor mental health costing businesses £100s billions per year.

This half-day module allows delegates to explore the latest thinking around how to enhance well-being in the workplace in a transformative, practical, and commercial way.

Half-day workshop (plus pre-work and embedding activities)

Insights into the Well-Being at Work half-day module:

Whilst most of us know that we should look after ourselves, relatively few people truly understand how their thoughts, feelings, sleep, exercise, stress levels, diet etc are inter-related and how they can either help or hinder well-being.

The reality is that the stresses and pressures of modern life are becoming increasingly problematic, meaning that proactively managing your well-being is no longer a ‘nice-to-have’ but a ‘must-have’. Furthermore, with poor mental and physical health estimated to be costing £100s billions each year in lost productivity, businesses have a vested interest in supporting the well-being of their employees.

This module explores how human evolution often works against us in terms of our well-being, and why this has led to mental health plummeting. We clarify the difference between neurodiversity and mental health disorders, before identifying simple ways to manage stress and anxiety.

We then consider the myths and deceit that we face as food and drink consumers, before examining the correlation between diet and how people feel, function, and perform. We explore how the body functions, including the digestive system, the microbiome, and metabolism, so that delegates appreciate how their ‘gut brain’ works either with them, or against them.

Most people understand that physical activity aids well-being, however, few realise its role in mental health, in staving off illness and disease, or how it can affect engagement and productivity at work. This module considers how and why delegates may want to introduce greater levels of movement and activity into their working day.

Finally, we uncover the magical properties of sleep and how, by adopting some sleep best practices, delegates can potentially transform their physical and mental health.
